Meet the Team

  • Jennifer L Rastetter LPCCS

Hi! I'm Jennifer, Clinical Director and psychotherapist at Winding Road Therapy Group. I am a licensed professional clinical counselor in the State of Ohio. I graduated from Wake Forest University with a Master of Arts in Counseling degree with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health.

I work with individuals, couples, and groups that struggle with trauma and addiction. My specialty is complex trauma, also known as C-PTSD, specifically related to the dysfunctional attachment that begins in early childhood, caused by neglect, abuse, real or perceived abandonment, and many other traumatic life circumstances.

These attachment styles can significantly impact how we show up in friendships, family, or intimate relationships. Often, things like anxiety and depression, low self-esteem, feeling awkward in social situations, difficulty expressing or even feeling emotions, dissociation, and substance abuse become part of the daily struggle.

I am passionate about helping clients learn there is hope through actually rewiring our brains. People often compare their experiences to another person’s and think, “Mine was not so bad; it can’t be traumatic.” But that’s not true. You may be surprised to learn it has nothing to do with any specific type of event, big or small.

It has everything to do with how your nervous system and brain interpret events. Our “Body Keeps The Score” through that nervous system interpretation. Our brains then create “shortcuts” regarding how to respond in any situation that feels similar.

I am excited to offer cutting-edge interventions for retraining our brains and resetting the nervous system. To learn more, see our KAP and EMDR pages for details, or reach out by filling out our contact form.

All of these can be difficult to navigate alone. I am here to offer a safe space for whatever is weighing on you. When we begin, much like when you build any other relationship, I would like to build our therapeutic relationship. The best therapy takes place when it begins person-centered, meaning we take a little time to build the therapeutic relationship, build trust and have open, honest communication.

At Winding Road Therapy Group, we recognize that both men and women can struggle with trauma. However, only around fifteen percent of men will reach out for help. This disparity is concerning to us, which is why we specialize in men’s mental health.

I want you to know this is a safe environment for you to share your thoughts and feelings; there is no judgment. I encourage honest feedback from you, not only regarding your goals but also our work together. I would like you to be direct about what works, what does not, or if things are going well. This is a collaborative process, and we can often adjust to better fit your needs. Let’s schedule a time to chat!

  • Alyssa Kraus Counselor Trainee/Intern

Hey there! I am Alyssa, a graduate student interning as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor here at Winding Road Therapy Group. I am currently in my final year of graduate school at Walden University studying Clinical Mental Health with a specialization in crisis and trauma. I am expected to graduate in August 2025 and I come from a background of teaching and working in high schools as a learning and behavior strategist as well as coaching and playing sports.

I am looking forward to working with adults and young adults/teens that are interested in individual and group therapy to gain understanding of themselves, heal mental blocks or wounds, and create healthy coping strategies. I believe strongly in person-centered therapy and helping individuals realize everyone has different experiences and perspectives therefore everyone’s therapy and healing journey will and should look different! Too often we like to compare ourselves to one another, when in reality we are all beautifully different and need to find the strategies that work best for our own unique lives.

I aspire to help individuals understand themselves and find ways to cope and heal through DBT and somatic therapy. Life is always unpredictable and learning DBT and somatic skills empowers clients to accept, understand, and take control of their emotions and situations in life. Although we may think that mental struggles are held inside our brain, our bodies can manifest our emotions and stressors in ways we wouldn’t typically consider. DBT and Somatic therapy can be helpful for clients struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, low self-esteem, PTSD, and other stress related disorders.

I understand that working on our mental health is not always comfortable and easy to discuss, but I want to assure you that this is a judgment free space and I am here to help you push through barriers and accomplish your goals. This is your healing journey and I am here to work alongside you as you navigate through the process of understanding, goal setting, and healing.
